The article analyzes the slew of copyright lawsuits filed by video game makers against websites that sell cheat tools for players to gain unfair advantages and the challenges ahead for these type of lawsuits. Sean explains the cheating lawsuits are nothing new but notes the latest set of suits may indicate that video game companies have a bigger mission in mind to obtain damages.
Sean adds, “Filing a suit against an entity that is generating significant income directly from the nefarious activity is usually intended to send a message to other entities: to shut down the particular company and to obtain the monies generated by the activity as damages.”
